EYELID SURGERY
As we age, a complex series of changes takes place in the tissue around the eye. Skin becomes thinner and less elastic, fat may protrude or atrophy, and even the bone can resorb and change lending less support for the soft tissues. Many of these changes can be improved or corrected surgically.
Blepharoplasty (or eyelid surgery) is intended to tighten the tissues of the upper and/or lower eyelids. It is useful for improving the appearance of aging around the eyes. In the upper lids, the procedure removes excess skin in virtually all cases. Depending on the individual anatomy, fat and muscle may also be addressed. The lower lids may be full and/or there may be skin laxity, both of which would be corrected surgically.
BROW LIFT
The upper portion of the face contains the eyebrows and forehead. The brows are central in conveying human emotion, and aging changes can dramatically affect how others view us. Downward slanted eyebrows convey sadness or anger, while droopy eyebrows convey an aged or tired look.
As we age, the forehead and eyebrows descend, which is commonly called “brow ptosis.” The forehead lift is a facelift of the upper portion of the face that elevates and shapes/contours the eyebrows while removing droopiness and wrinkles from the forehead. The forehead and the eyebrows may be lifted by multiple means and can often be done with relatively small incision techniques.
FACELIFT
Sagging in the middle or lower face, can be improved with facelift, or rhytidectomy.
This surgical procedure improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:
- Deep creases below the lower eyelids
- Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
- Fat that has fallen or has disappeared
- Loss of skin tone in the lower face that creates jowls
- Accumulated jowl fat
- Deepened folds such as the nasolabial (parentheses) and melolabial (marionette)
- Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw can give even a person of normal weight the appearance of a double chin
NECK LIFT
A neck lift is a facial plastic surgery procedure that improves the contours and skin texture of your neck area, including the area just under your jaw line and chin.
The neck is often neglected when men and women are considering anti-aging surgeries, yet it can develop some of the most obvious signs of aging, such as banding of the muscles, loose skin and pockets of fat.
