Oculofacial plastic surgeons are trained in both ophthalmic surgery as well as facial plastic surgery.  Dr. Burroughs has a busy cosmetic component to his practice, which is important when seeking either non-invasive or surgical facial rejuvenation procedures.  Cosmetic surgeons have a keen appreciation for the norms of facial beauty.  This come through the intimate knowledge of the underlying facial anatomy and how aging changes underneath can lead to the changes that are actually seen by ourselves and others.  Many of Dr. Burroughs patients are surprised when he often recommends non-surgical options over surgery, but he aims to inform the patient with the gamut of options and let them decide once they are properly informed.  In fact, certain areas of the face are best improved with dermal fillers (e.g., Radiesse) as they provide improvement to areas that surgery does not as safely or naturally address.  For superficial wrinkling, botulinum toxin (Botox) and/or chemical peeling is a great option.  Chemical face peeling also helps even pigmentation, and can sometimes preempt or delay onset of facial cancers in certain cases.
