ThermiVa vs MonaLisa Touch
Women are becoming increasingly more interested in sexual health improvements. ThermiVa and MonaLisa Touch are two of the most well-known non-surgical procedures to address the issues of feminine wellness. Benefits for both include vaginal dryness and vaginal laxity, dysorgasmia, as well as stress urinary incontinence. Only ThermiVa also helps with the external vaginal appearance.
ThermiVa
ThermiVa has been on the market a few years. This vaginal rejuvenation procedure is classified as a medical spa procedure because it is non-invasive, non-surgical, and non-hormonal. ThermiVa uses advanced radiofrequency heat technology to improve the appearance, elasticity and lubrication of the vagina. ThermiVa helps with incontinence by tightening the tissues around the distal urinary tract. It can also improve orgasmic function and can significantly improve the appearance of the outer and inner labia.
ThermiVa’s wand is smaller than a finger, and is maneuvered both externally and internally to gently apply radiofrequency heat. There should be no pain with this procedure, and ThermiVa patients are not required to have downtime and can resume sexual and physical activities immediately.
MonaLisa Touch
MonaLisa Touch primarily treats vaginal mucosa using fractionated laser engery. As a result of the stimulation of the mucosa tissue, MonaLisa Touch also treats vaginal atrophy and minor incontinence associated with postpartum and menopause. MonaLisa Touch is only applied to the inside of the vagina and therefore does not affect the outer labia.
This procedure is done with a CO2 fractional laser that creates micro-lesions to trigger collagen production. The treatment device is 1 inch and patients can experience some discomfort. There are some possible side effects such as redness, swelling and discomfort, but most women say the side effects are temporary. Though there is some debate, MonaLisa patients are instructed to have a few days of no sexual activity and some physical restrictions
